According to a release from the Frederick Police Department, officers were conducting a foot patrol in the 200 block of North Market Street around 12:35 a.m. on September 6, 2025, when a witness reported seeing a man drop a handgun, pick it up, and remain in the area. Responding officers, acting on a detailed description from the witness, located the individual, identified as Jamarie Ahkile Parker, in the 300 block of North Market Street. Upon observing the officers, Parker attempted to evade contact by crossing the street and entering the roadway.

As officers approached, they noticed what appeared to be a handgun protruding from the front pocket of Parker’s sweatshirt. Despite repeated commands to stop, Parker ignored the officers and continued to attempt to walk away. When officers moved to detain him, Parker resisted, pulling away and reaching towards his waistband.

Additional officers arrived on the scene, and following a continued struggle, Parker was taken into custody and placed in handcuffs. A loaded 9mm handgun was recovered from his pants. While restrained, Parker continued to resist by kicking at officers and using profanities. A subsequent search of a satchel belonging to Parker revealed suspected crack cocaine, Schedule II prescription pills, and a digital scale. Parker was transported to the Frederick County Adult Detention Center and faces multiple firearm and drug-related charges. He is currently being held without bond.
