For a Limited Time, We’re Enabling a Reduced Ad Experience for Everyone

Recently we were made aware of a problem where some paid supporters aren’t getting the reduced ad experience they were expecting. After discussing with our hosting provider, they have determined this is actually a bug in the WordPress software being used to run this site. Support could not resolve the bug, and has escalated it to their developers.

So, because we have users who expect a reduced ad experience and are unable to access it, we’re temporarily enabling this experience for everyone, as well as pausing all in-house advertisement sales.

Until this issue is resolved by WordPress, all visitors, even those who have never supported RFHC, will see reduced ads in our articles, and we won’t be re-enabling these ads until WordPress has resolved the issue.

I want to be clear here – we’re going to take a financial hit for doing this. Because we’re enabling this experience for everyone, we can’t charge for the in-house advertisements which are normally shown to non-supporters. Additionally, there’s a good chance we’ll lose out on supporters in the process, since there isn’t that incentive to become a supporter while this technical issue remains unresolved. But that’s okay. I’d rather ensure that the expectations of our paying supporters are met, than pick up additional supporters.
