Washington County Awarded Federal Grant for Firefighter Equipment

HAGERSTOWN, MD News (9/23/2022) – The Washington County Board of County Commissioners is pleased to announce the Division of Emergency Services, in collaboration with Potomac Valley Volunteer Fire Company, has been awarded a “Regional” Assistance for Firefighters Grant (AFG) from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) in the amount of $1.9 million. The funds will be used by various volunteer fire and EMS departments, the Division of Emergency Services, and the Washington County Volunteer Fire and Rescue Association to purchase portable radios.

This new contract utilizes cameras manufactured by Turing Video, based out of San Mateo, CA, addressing the security concerns present with the previous version of the contract, which was retracted on August 23.
