According to the Maryland Transportation Authority, the rebuilding of the Francis Scott Key Bridge and the restoration of the I-695 Baltimore Beltway are identified as paramount priorities. By dividing the rebuilding project into several distinct contracts, the MDTA anticipates enabling a broader range of companies to contribute their expertise. This approach is expected to facilitate the involvement of a diverse array of prime contractors and subcontractors, thereby supporting a more coordinated and efficient reconstruction process. The design phase for the bridge has reportedly progressed beyond the 70% completion mark, indicating that the project is moving towards the procurement and construction stages.
Registration for the Key Bridge Rebuild Virtual Industry Forum is now open and can be completed through the dedicated website, KeyBridgeRebuild.com. The forum will feature a presentation from MDTA representatives who will detail the anticipated contracting approach and the procurement process for the bridge’s reconstruction. Following the presentation, a question and answer session will be held, with attendees encouraged to submit questions in advance via KeyBridgeRebuild.com. The MDTA has stated that all questions will be limited to the upcoming contracting opportunities related to the bridge rebuild. Following the event, responses and relevant forum materials will be made available online.
