The total allocation for FY2025 reached $2,347,408.90, marking a decrease of approximately $66,877 from the previous fiscal year. In accordance with Maryland law, these revenues are divided evenly between the Washington County Volunteer Fire and Rescue Association and qualifying charitable organizations. The Fire and Rescue Association received $1,173,704.45 across two disbursements this year to support its operations and emergency response efforts.
The Gaming Commission considered 86 applications submitted by 75 nonprofit organizations, requesting a combined $3.2 million in support. Ultimately, 51 organizations were selected to receive full or partial funding, totaling $1,173,704.45 for the charitable share. This means that while more than half of applicants received at least some financial assistance, over $2 million in requested support went unfunded.
