We know you value local news and entertainment that is free, open, and independent. Producing high-quality, paywall-free content isn't free. It takes time, effort, and resources to keep you informed and entertained. Unlike corporate media, we don’t have deep-pocketed investors or big advertisers funding our work—we rely on you, our readers and listeners, to keep Radio Free Hub City running. We're literally running on a shoe-string budget, but keep working hard to provide as much news and entertainment as we can.

The CEAP will evaluate potential climate impacts on Frederick’s infrastructure, natural resources, and public health, while providing recommendations to mitigate these effects. Public participation is a critical component, ensuring the plan reflects diverse perspectives and concerns. Residents are encouraged to report observations related to extreme heat, droughts, severe storms, flooded roads, poor air quality, and rising energy costs. Insights gathered will help shape actionable strategies for the plan.
To gather public input, a series of Climate Workshops will be held, with event details available at www.FrederickCountyMD.gov/ClimateAction. Additionally, community members can engage by taking the Community Climate Survey and utilizing the newly launched Flood Mapping Tool on the County’s website. These tools allow residents to share experiences and concerns related to climate vulnerabilities in the area.

We didn't pick our name by accident. While other outlets are proud to be government 'Partners,' we are proud to be exactly what our namesake requires: Free from government influence, and free from government censorship. We don't lock our news behind a paywall, will you help us keep it that way? If you're tired of news sweetened with confirmation bias that never questions the 'official story', consider becoming a monthly supporter. Just $5/month helps fund our local reporting, live election night coverage, and more.
The CEAP builds upon existing local sustainability initiatives and aims to accelerate climate action efforts. In 2020, Frederick County and the City of Frederick adopted a joint Climate Emergency Resolution to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 50% from 2010 levels by 2030 and achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. A volunteer Climate Emergency Mobilization Workgroup dedicated over 18,500 hours to produce the Climate Response and Resilience Report, which outlines recommendations to help achieve these climate goals.
