Hagerstown is facing critical challenges such as addiction, violence, homelessness, and other social issues. Despite the ongoing blame game among elected officials, these problems continue to worsen, causing immense suffering and harm within our community. In response, Radio Free Hub City is launching a grassroots initiative to compile independent and accurate data on these pressing issues. Our goal is to bypass the political finger-pointing and address the problems head-on, starting where the impact is most felt: at the ground level.

It’s Time to #StartAtTheBottom
While many believe that solutions begin with leadership, we often find ourselves echoing that meaningful change “starts at the top” we now recognize that real change must start from the ground up. From the bottom – where these problems and dangers are most prevalent. By focusing on the source of the problems, we aim to develop effective strategies that truly meet the needs of our community. If you want it done right, you must do it yourself.
Our Journey: From the Bottom Up
At Radio Free Hub City, we know firsthand the challenges of homelessness, unemployment, and falling victim to terrible violence or other serious crime, crimes that have lasting effect on a victim. In our personal lives, we have faced these issues without an abundance of resources to help us. Radio Free Hub City itself started from nothing—started from the bottom. Thanks to your support, we have grown beyond our wildest dreams in just under three years. We understand what it means to start from the bottom because we are from the bottom, and we are proud of it.
The Importance of Independent Data
To effectively address the complex issues our community faces, we must begin with accurate and unbiased data. Solutions cannot be found or implemented based on information gathered by or on behalf of politicians, law enforcement, or other authorities who may have conflicting interests. Independent data collection ensures transparency and trust, providing a clear and honest picture of the problems we need to solve. Making this data available to the entire community is essential. It empowers residents, organizations, and stakeholders with the knowledge needed to make informed decisions and collaborate on effective solutions. By starting with reliable, community-driven data, we can lay a strong foundation for lasting change.
Join Our Effort
We invite all residents, community organizations, and stakeholders to contribute to this vital research. Whether you have data to share, stories to tell, or are simply passionate about making a difference, your participation is invaluable.
