Governor Hogan Announces More Than $13 Million in Highway Safety Grants

ANNAPOLIS, MD News (9/12/2022) – Governor Larry Hogan today announced more than $13 million in federal and state highway safety grants as part of a statewide focus to prevent motor vehicle crashes and eliminate roadway fatalities. The state funds were disbursed at the start of the fiscal year, and the federal funds will be distributed October 1 by the Maryland Department of Transportation Motor Vehicle Administration’s (MDOT MVA) Highway Safety Office. In all, more than 90 organizations, agencies, and programs will receive funds.

Washington County Accepting Nominations for Farm of the Year

HAGERSTOWN, MD News (9/14/2022) – The Washington County Department of Business Development announces nominations by the public are now being accepted for the 2022-2023 Washington County Farm of the Year.

Designed to recognize and honor the rich agricultural heritage embedded in Washington County, the Farm of the Year Award application is open to all farms located primarily in the County on five or more acres of land. Applications must be submitted by September 23, 2022.

Maryland Election Board Looks to Count Mail-In Ballots Before Election Day

ANNAPOLIS, MD News (9/5/2022) – The Maryland State Board of Elections has filed an emergency petition in circuit court to seek approval to canvass mail-in ballots prior to Election Day. The petition will also require that any results from any pre-Election Day canvassing be withheld until the polls close on Election Day.
