Hagerstown, MD is set to host a vibrant summer schedule filled with community celebrations, cultural events, and entertainment for residents of all ages. Per a public announcement, the city has organized a series of activities spanning from late June through July, including music performances, farmers markets, outdoor movies, and significant civic celebrations. The diverse programming aims to bring the community together and highlight the essence of Hagerstown as a thriving downtown hub.
The summer festivities will kick off with the Miss Maryland and Miss Maryland Teen preliminary competitions and finals, taking place at The Maryland Theatre on June 24, 25, and 26, 2026. These events will showcase contestants competing in various categories, culminating in the crowning of the new Miss Maryland and Miss Maryland’s Teen. Later that week, on Friday, June 26, families can enjoy a free outdoor movie night in City Park, featuring a screening of “National Treasure.” Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets or lawn chairs for the event, which will begin with pre-movie activities at 7:00 p.m.

Throughout July, Hagerstown will continue its packed schedule with recurring events and special celebrations. The City Farmers Market will operate every Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Hub City Brewery, offering fresh produce and local vendor goods. Sundays will also feature free concerts by the Hagerstown Municipal Band at various locations, including City Park Bandshell and North Hagerstown High School, with some performances dedicated to the “Celebrate America 250” initiative. A special Independence Day fireworks display is scheduled for Friday, July 3, at Fairgrounds Park, beginning at 9:30 p.m. Residents should note that no food or drink vendors will be present at the fireworks event.
A significant event marking America’s semiquincentennial will be the “Stars & Stripes Block Party + 1976 Time Capsule” on Thursday, July 9, in downtown Hagerstown. This celebration will include live music, historical and cultural vendors, and the unveiling of a 1976 time capsule at 6:00 p.m. The City of Hagerstown is also organizing a series of five community block parties throughout the summer, designed to foster neighborhood connections and provide opportunities for residents to engage with city officials and local resources. The first block party is scheduled for July 16 at Wheaton Park, followed by events on July 23 near East Ave and July 30 at Mulberry Lofts. Additionally, mid-week entertainment will be provided through the MDWK Music & Market series at University Plaza, featuring live music, food trucks, and vendor markets on select Wednesdays in July. A special “Summer Block Party” with inflatables and family activities is also planned for Saturday, July 25, on South Potomac Street.
