Hagerstown Police Department has released body camera footage related to the incident after the “No Kings” protest on June 14, 2025.
The peaceful demonstration in Hagerstown ended with a brief altercation between two men, occurring shortly after the event officially concluded. The “No Kings” protest, part of a nationwide movement held on Flag Day, drew hundreds of participants to the Washington County District Court in Hagerstown from noon to 2:00 PM, advocating against authoritarianism and President Donald Trump.
The newly released body camera footage unfortunately still does not clarify the exact specifics of the incident.
This article was updated 6/27/2025 to include body camera footage.

According to Hagerstown Police Department, roughly 15 minutes after the demonstration ended, a physical confrontation broke out between two adult males, but did not release further details or identities. According to the Hagerstown Police Department, both parties claimed minor injuries and voluntarily sought medical attention at Meritus Medical Center.
The precise cause of the incident remains unclear, and no determination has been made about who initiated or participated in the altercation. The aftermath of the incident was captured on video by Radio Free Hub City while travelling through Hagerstown from an unrelated event the editor was previously committed to attending. The footage shows law enforcement on scene and an individual with a torn Trump sign, as well as others, being questioned by officers. The individual with the Trump sign is then escorted to the side of an ambulance.
EDITOR’S NOTE: We received multiple conflicting tips claiming that both sides started the altercation. As no official determination was released by Hagerstown Police Department, we are unable to act upon those tips at this time.

Hagerstown Police Department has confirmed that this was the only reported disturbance related to the Hagerstown protest, but did not mention that any arrests had been made. Organizers had emphasized peaceful engagement and conflict de-escalation in advance of the event, aligning with similar demonstrations across the region. Local residents were advised ahead of time to anticipate increased foot traffic and possible delays near protest locations, which included nearby towns such as Frederick, Shepherdstown, and Chambersburg. Overall, the local protests were much more peaceful than other national protests, for example in Atlanta where tear gas was deployed and eight people were arrested.
In addition, an individual is captured on camera making a vulgar hand gesture at the editor while filming. It is not believed that this individual is a City of Hagerstown employee, and it is unknown if he was part of the protest or altercation. The editor was clearly wearing both a hat and vest identifying himself as part of the press. The individual did not make any statements to us.
