Prior to his tenure as a County Commissioner, Harvey served as a retired U.S. Army Colonel. His military career included service as an Airborne Ranger Infantry Officer, during which he received several commendations, such as the Bronze Star and multiple Meritorious Service Medals. After retiring from the Army, he continued his public service in a senior executive role within the intelligence community. His previous experience also encompasses work on Capitol Hill, where he served as Lead Investigator and Senior Advisor to the House Permanent Select Intelligence Committee. Furthermore, he held a position on the White House National Security Council during the administration of President Donald J. Trump. The Board of County Commissioners has expressed its gratitude for Commissioner Harvey’s dedicated service to Washington County and offered him best wishes for his future professional undertakings.
The County Attorney has officially informed the Washington County Republican Central Committee of the vacancy on the board. This committee will then present a recommendation to Governor Wes Moore, who will be responsible for making the official appointment to fill the remainder of Harvey’s term.
