The Washington County Chamber of Commerce held its 26th Annual Business Awards on February 26, 2025, at The Maryland Theatre in Hagerstown, Maryland. The event, attended by over 450 guests, celebrated exceptional achievements by local businesses, non-profits, and professionals across a range of categories.

The “At Your Service” award, recognizing outstanding customer service, was presented to Free Range Cafe, an eatery focused on responsibly sourced, seasonal meals and personalized customer experiences. Children’s Village of Washington County received the Small Non-Profit of the Year Award for its safety education programs benefiting second-grade students. The Large Non-Profit of the Year Award went to Star Community, which supports individuals with disabilities in pursuing fulfilling lives and integrated employment opportunities.

The Small Business of the Year Award was awarded to Meinelschmidt Distillery, which produces high-quality whiskeys and bourbons using local grains and contributes to downtown Hagerstown’s revitalization. Valley Mall was named Medium Business of the Year for its role as a longstanding retail and community hub. Noel’s Fire Protection earned the Large Business of the Year Award for its fire protection services and strong community involvement.

Among individual honors, Ms. Ashton Vattelana was recognized as the 2025 Young Professional of the Year for her leadership as a Financial Advisor at Edward Jones and her contributions to various local organizations. Mr. Howard “Blackie” Bowen was named Business Person of the Year for his instrumental role in developing Meritus Park and the new Hagerstown Flying Boxcars baseball team, as well as his extensive contributions to the community. The inaugural Legacy Award was presented to Mr. Adna “Ad” Fulton, founder of AC&T, in recognition of his longstanding impact on Washington County through both his business endeavors and community service.

The awards highlighted the significant contributions of local leaders and organizations, showcasing the commitment of Washington County’s business and non-profit communities to service, innovation, and growth.
