The fire originated on the rear porch wall, where a generator had been reported smoking earlier in the morning. At approximately 6:43 a.m., the fire department had responded to the same location to address the initial generator issue. The cause of the fire remains under investigation, with officials unable to rule out the possibility of a rekindle from the earlier incident.
Harford County Disaster Assistance is currently aiding the home’s occupants. No smoke alarms or fire alarms were present in the property. The Office of the State Fire Marshal, part of the Maryland Department of State Police, continues to investigate the incident.
