The county has experienced dry air, low humidity, and gusty winds, creating conditions that allow even small fires, such as those from burning debris or yard waste, to quickly become dangerous. Fire departments are working tirelessly to manage the situation, and additional fires could strain emergency response resources further.
To reduce fire risks, the Office of Emergency Management is urging residents to avoid burning yard waste, brush, or debris until the weather improves. People are also encouraged to properly extinguish cigarettes, handle equipment cautiously to avoid sparks, and stay updated with emergency information.
