The incident occurred around 8:00 a.m. on November 1, 2024, when the Cumberland Fire Department responded to a vehicle fire in front of 883 Patterson Avenue. Firefighters found a 2005 Toyota Camry Solara engulfed in flames. A joint investigation between the Cumberland Fire Marshal’s Office and the Office of the State Fire Marshal determined that the fire had been deliberately set. The blaze caused approximately $5,000 in damages to the vehicle and the adjacent home.
Investigators initially spoke with Ford on the day of the fire. He claimed the car had been inoperable for several months and was recently purchased by his mother. Ford told authorities he was awakened by loud booms, saw the vehicle on fire, and attempted to put out the flames. However, after months of investigation, officials identified Ford as the suspect, concluding that he had intentionally set the fire using an explosive device.
