One of the key initiatives is Senate Bill 781, which would establish a task force to explore the creation of a state park dedicated to veterans’ care. The proposed park would offer recreational and therapeutic services for veterans, with findings and recommendations due by December 1, 2026. Another notable measure, Senate Bill 502, seeks to extend property tax credits to judicial officers, correctional officers, and their surviving spouses, with retroactive benefits from June 30, 2022.
Economic development remains a priority, with Senate Bill 861 ensuring the continuation of the Western Maryland Economic Future Investment Board and extending funding through 2031. The bill mandates an annual $10 million appropriation to foster job creation and economic opportunities. Senate Bill 580 allows Washington County to use existing agricultural buildings for agritourism without additional permits, aligning with policies already in place in most Maryland counties. Additional bills, such as Senate Bill 698 and Senate Bill 596, provide tax incentives for development projects, including a sales tax exemption for construction materials in Mount Aetna Technology Park and property tax credits for businesses creating full-time jobs in Washington County.

Public safety measures are also central to Corderman’s agenda. Senate Bill 860 requires the Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services to study where inmates live before and after incarceration, ensuring local resources are not overwhelmed. Senate Bill 632 strengthens privacy protections by allowing individuals to file peace orders against unauthorized surveillance. Additionally, Senate Bill 554 establishes mandatory commitments for individuals found not criminally responsible for murder, requiring life sentences in a healthcare facility for first-degree cases and 40 years for second-degree offenses.
Other bills focus on specific industry regulations, including Senate Bill 982, which expands sports wagering to include bets on historical horse races, aiming to keep Maryland’s gaming revenue within the state. Corderman’s agenda reflects a mix of economic, safety, and community-driven initiatives, with a focus on supporting veterans, first responders, and local businesses.
