According to the Sheriff’s Office, two individuals were injured in the incident. Witnesses reported seeing a male suspect, described as being in his early 20s, wearing a black hoodie and a mask, holding a large knife in an alleyway behind 40 North Conococheague Street.

When deputies arrived, they encountered an individual matching the suspect’s description. Officers ordered the suspect to stop and drop his weapon, but he reportedly ignored these commands and advanced toward the deputies while holding the knife. One deputy attempted to use a Taser, but the suspect continued to approach. At this point, a second deputy discharged his firearm, striking the suspect. The deputies then secured the suspect and administered aid until emergency personnel arrived.
