Approximately 5,720 Specialized Turbo Como SL electric bicycles are subject to a recall due to a potential for the fork steerer tube to develop a fatigue crack, which could lead to a failure and pose a fall hazard. The recall, announced by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission on behalf of Specialized Bicycle Components Inc., affects all Specialized Como SL electric bicycles, regardless of model. The affected bicycles were sold between March 2021 and January 2026 for prices ranging from $3,250 to $4,800.

The hazard identified involves a fatigue crack that can develop in the bike’s fork steerer tube. This crack can progress over time, potentially causing the fork to fail entirely. Such a failure would present a significant fall hazard to the rider, increasing the risk of serious injury or death. While Specialized Bicycle Components has received one report of a steerer tube failing, no injuries have been reported in connection with this issue.
The recalled bicycles are identified by the “Como SL” marking on the seat tube or top tube. The Como SL 4.0 models were available in Cast Umber, Dove Grey, and Raspberry, while the Como SL 5.0 models came in Smoke, Brassy Yellow, and Brushed Silver. Consumers can also confirm if their bicycle is part of the recall by connecting it to the Specialized app, as only SL versions within the Como family are affected.
Owners of the affected Specialized Turbo Como SL bicycles are urged to stop using their bikes immediately. To address the safety concern, consumers should contact an Authorized Specialized Retailer to schedule an appointment for a free replacement of the fork. Replacement parts are anticipated to become available in Spring 2026. For further assistance or to find an authorized retailer, consumers can reach out to Specialized Rider Care by phone at 877-808-8154, Monday through Friday, between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Mountain Time. They can also contact Specialized via email at ridercare@specialized.com, through Live Chat on http://www.specialized.com, or by visiting http://www.specialized.com/safety-recall-notices.
The recalled bicycles were imported by Specialized Bicycle Components Inc. of Morgan Hill, California, and were manufactured in Taiwan or Vietnam. The recall number assigned by the CPSC is 26-330.
