The incident occurred as a white Jeep Cherokee driven by 22-year-old Jocelyn P. Megee from Fairfield, Pennsylvania, was traveling eastbound. Concurrently a tractor trailer operated by 44-year-old Matthew S. Warren of Hagerstown, Maryland, was heading westbound on Waynesboro Pike.

According to the police report, the Jeep Cherokee lost control due to heavy rain conditions. The vehicle veered off the roadway, striking an embankment before flipping over onto its driver’s side. The Cherokee then slid into the westbound lane, colliding with the front end of the oncoming tractor trailer. This collision caused the Jeep Cherokee to come to a final rest facing west, while the tractor trailer halted in its lane of travel.
