On Saturday, June 15, at approximately 10:40 p.m., HPD officers responded to reports of gunfire near the intersection of Jonathan Street and Murph Avenue. Upon arrival, officers discovered evidence of multiple shots fired in that location as well as in the vicinity of Jonathan Street and North Avenue. Initial investigations revealed that the shots were fired from inside a black sedan.
While officers were still on the scene, the Washington County Emergency Communications Center received a report of a black sedan on fire on Jameson Drive, a short distance from the shooting locations. The Hagerstown Fire Department responded to the scene of the car fire. Further investigation determined that the vehicle, which had been reported stolen from Baltimore City, was the same one involved in the earlier shooting incidents.

The Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office was also called to the scene to investigate the cause of the vehicle fire. HPD officers recovered multiple shell casings from the Jonathan Street area and noted that two unoccupied parked vehicles had been struck by gunfire. No injuries were reported in connection with this incident.
The following evening, on Sunday, June 16, at approximately 9:50 p.m., HPD officers were dispatched to the 500 block of West Church Street after receiving another report of shots fired. Upon arrival, officers located numerous shell casings and found that several unoccupied vehicles had been hit by bullets. Similar to the previous night, there were no reports of any individuals being struck by gunfire.
