HAGERSTOWN, MD (May 31, 2022) – The Board of County Commissioners is accepting applications online for the establishment of the Police Accountability Board as required by Maryland law. The Board will hold a public hearing on the County’s proposed Police Accountability Board Ordinance on June 7, 2022. After adoption of the Ordinance, the Board will constitute the Police Accountability Board’s membership. Applications for membership will be accepted until the positions are filled. Citizens interested in serving on the Police Accountability Board are encouraged to apply early in this process.

All counties in Maryland are required to establish Police Accountability Boards due to Maryland bill HB0670, known as the Maryland Police Accountability Act of 2021, which takes effect July 1, 2022.

Applications for the board can be submitted through the county website.
