Hagerstown Gears Up for a Summer of Community Events and Celebrations

Residents of Hagerstown and surrounding areas can look forward to a packed schedule of events throughout June and July, according to information released by the City of Hagerstown and Hagerstown Parks & Recreation. The upcoming calendar features a diverse range of activities designed to engage the community, from historical commemorations and family-friendly entertainment to live music and local markets. Many of these events are free to attend, while others offer unique experiences with ticket purchase options.

The summer’s festivities kick off on Friday, June 5, 2026, with a “Character Meet & Greet with the Blue Dog” at the City Park Train Hub from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. This ticketed event, costing $5 per person, provides admission to the Train Hub after hours, allowing attendees to explore cabooses, Steam Engine 202, and museum exhibits alongside their favorite Blue Dog friend. The following day, Saturday, June 6, 2026, marks a significant historical event: the “1776: Hager’s Town at War Living History Event” at the Jonathan Hager House from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. This free, public event commemorates the contributions of Washington County residents to the American Revolution, featuring living historians, reenactors, militia drills, and demonstrations of 18th-century weaponry. Also on June 6th, families can enjoy a “Meet a Mermaid” event at Potterfield Pool from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. This ticketed experience includes pool admission for the day and offers a chance to swim and take photos with a mermaid princess.

The weekend of June 6th and 7th will also see the return of the Western Maryland Blues Fest, hosted at Hub City Brewery, 25 W Church St. This event promises to bring prominent blues musicians to downtown Hagerstown. Complementing the music, the City Farmers Market will be held at Hub City Brewery on Sunday, June 7th, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., offering fresh food and local vendors. Sundays in June will continue to feature live music with the Hagerstown Municipal Band performing at the City Park Bandshell at 7:00 p.m. on June 7th, June 14th, June 21st, and June 28th, with soloists featured on various dates.

Mid-June brings more family-oriented activities. On Friday, June 12, 2026, City Park Bandshell will host a free outdoor movie night, showing “How to Train Your Dragon” starting at 7:00 p.m. The following Saturday, June 13, 2026, offers two distinct events: a large Community Yard Sale at the Stables at Fairgrounds Park from 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., featuring up to 72 vendors, and “Fishin Frenzy” at Pangborn Park Lake from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Fishin Frenzy is an inclusive fishing event for youth under 15, seniors 65 and older, and individuals with special needs. The City Farmers Market continues its Sunday schedule at Hub City Brewery throughout June.

Later in June, Hagerstown will celebrate Juneteenth with a full day of activities at Wheaton Park on Saturday, June 20, 2026, organized by the Doleman Black Heritage Museum. This celebration will include live music, youth and family activities, health and wellness resources, educational exhibits, and cultural arts. On the same day, downtown Hagerstown will host the Mid-Atlantic Regional Criterium Championships, a competitive cycling event featuring 18 categories of racers from various age groups. The month concludes with the Miss Maryland and Miss Maryland Teen preliminary competitions and crowning ceremonies at The Maryland Theatre on June 24th, 25th, and 26th. Additionally, another free outdoor movie, “National Treasure,” will be shown at City Park Bandshell on Friday, June 26th.

The City Farmers Market continues its weekly presence at Hub City Brewery through July 5th, 2026. The summer’s patriotic celebrations will begin with a free Independence Day Fireworks display at Fairgrounds Park on Friday, July 3, 2026, at 9:30 p.m. The city will also observe America’s semiquincentennial with a “Stars & Stripes Block Party + 1976 Time Capsule” event in downtown Hagerstown on Thursday, July 9, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. This event will feature live music, historical and cultural vendors, and the unveiling of a 1976 time capsule at 6:00 p.m. The City of Hagerstown encourages community involvement and provides contact information for inquiries about the listed events.
