HAGERSTOWN, MD – The Washington County Board of County Commissioners is seeking applicants interested in serving on the Washington County Ethics Commission. Qualified applicants shall be Washington County residents of good moral character and sound judgment who can interpret and administer the Washington County Ethics Ordinance.
Chapter 277 of the 2010 Acts of the General Assembly, requires that each county of the State of Maryland enact provisions to govern the public ethics of local officials; requires local ethics commissions to certify to the State Ethics Commission compliance with specified provisions of law relating to elected local officials on or before a specified date each year; and requires conflict of interest and financial disclosure provisions for elected local officials to be equivalent to or exceed certain requirements under certain provisions of law.
