Hagerstown is preparing for a vibrant summer with a full slate of community-centered events scheduled throughout June. From open-air concerts and historical reenactments to bustling farmers markets and family festivals, the city is offering numerous free and low-cost opportunities for residents and visitors alike to gather, celebrate, and enjoy the warmer weather. Several recurring series and one-time special events are planned across various parks and downtown locations.

The month opens on Sunday, June 1, with two events. The City Farmers Market at Hub City Brewery from noon to 4:00 p.m. offers local produce, baked goods, and artisan items. Later that afternoon, the Tobago Bay Calypso Band will perform from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the City Park Bandshell, bringing the sounds of steel drums to the community as part of the Noteworthy Sundays concert series hosted by the Washington County Free Library. Musical entertainment continues on June 4 with Rhet Troxell performing at the City Park Bandshell as part of the free “Encounter City Park” concert series.

We need your help to stay paywall free

We know you value local news and entertainment that is free, open, and independent. Producing high-quality, paywall-free content isn't free. It takes time, effort, and resources to keep you informed and entertained. Unlike corporate media, we don’t have deep-pocketed investors or big advertisers funding our work—we rely on you, our readers and listeners, to keep Radio Free Hub City running. We're literally running on a shoe-string budget, but keep working hard to provide as much news and entertainment as we can.

If just 5% of local area residents became paid supporters at only $5 per month, we could meet our fundraising goals and continue expanding our news coverage depth while continuing to provide free access for everyone. So, if you'd like to help us in our continuing quest to improve our coverage, please consider becoming a paying supporter.

Will you be one of the 5%?

Family-oriented events are also prominent throughout the month. On June 6, the City Park Train Hub will host a character meet-and-greet event featuring a popular children’s character, with admission set at $5 per family of three. Historical programming arrives June 7 with “1775: Hager’s Town Revolt” at the Hager House, where living historians and reenactors will bring the Revolutionary War era to life through musket demonstrations and militia drills. That same day, a summer pool party featuring Spongebob and Patrick will take place at Potterfield Pool from noon to 2:00 p.m., with regular admission rates applying.

The City Farmers Market continues each Sunday throughout June, while the Hagerstown Municipal Band will perform every Sunday evening at the City Park Bandshell. Each week’s concert features different guest performers, including Marcella Diehl on June 8 and Dr. John Pursell on June 22. The concert on June 15 will coincide with Elk’s Flag Day. Additional midweek concerts from local artists such as Day Star Vocals, Bryan Wiles, and Second Chances are scheduled every Wednesday evening as part of the “Encounter City Park” series.
