According to preliminary findings from the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office, Vung Sian, a 46-year-old resident of Frederick, was walking near the right side of the southbound lane on Bethel Road at White Rock Avenue when she was struck by a 2011 Nissan Altima. The driver of the vehicle, who remained at the scene, has cooperated with the ongoing investigation and provided a statement to authorities.
Emergency personnel from the Division of Fire and Rescue Services (DFRS) were dispatched to the scene and attempted life-saving measures. Despite these efforts, Vung Sian was pronounced deceased at the scene. Initial reports suggest that neither drugs nor alcohol were contributing factors to the collision, nor does excessive speed appear to have been a factor. The investigation into the circumstances of the collision is continuing. Anyone with further information is encouraged to contact DFC Reggio at 301-600-1046.
This incident serves as a somber reminder of the importance of pedestrian safety and awareness for both drivers and those traveling on foot. Residents are urged to exercise caution when sharing the road and to be vigilant of their surroundings, particularly during periods of reduced visibility.
