The City of Frederick has adopted its Fiscal Year 2027 budget, a financial plan that allocates $182 million to the General Fund and a total of $293.7 million across all city funds. Per a press release from the City of Frederick, the budget prioritizes continued investments in essential city services, infrastructure improvements, public safety, and community initiatives, with a property tax rate set at $0.7055 per $100 of assessed value. The new fiscal year budget will officially commence on July 1, 2026.
This adopted budget ensures ongoing funding for services that residents depend on daily. These include departments responsible for police and public works, as well as utilities, engineering, parks, and housing and human services. The plan also supports neighborhood initiatives, transportation infrastructure upgrades, and the modernization of technology to enhance service accessibility and delivery for the community. Residents can expect continued support for these vital areas throughout the upcoming fiscal year.

Beyond routine services, the FY27 budget earmarks significant funds for infrastructure and capital improvement projects throughout Frederick. These projects encompass essential street maintenance and traffic calming measures designed to improve neighborhood safety and flow. Additionally, funding is allocated for critical FEMA levee certification work, ensuring the city’s preparedness and safety. Improvements to park signage and wayfinding systems are also included, aiming to enhance the experience for residents and visitors alike when navigating public spaces.
The budget also introduces new investments and strengthens existing partnerships that benefit the community. Funds are designated for professional services related to affordable housing initiatives, reflecting a commitment to addressing housing needs. Furthermore, the city is increasing support for neighborhood and community engagement efforts, aiming to foster stronger connections between residents and local government. The budget solidifies partnerships with various organizations, including the AACF Community Health Clinic, Family Connects, the Asian American Center Parent Cooperative, Heritage Frederick, Centro Hispano, Frederick County Public Schools, the Dolly Parton Imagination Library, and the Golden Mile Alliance. These collaborations are expected to expand the reach and impact of critical community services. The addition of new personnel positions will also bolster the city’s capacity in legislative and land use policy development, supporting strategic planning for Frederick’s future.
