Maryland Attorney General Anthony G. Brown announced the filing of criminal charges against Terry Adrian Handy, Jr., an employee of Price & Son Septic Services, Inc., for alleged violations of the state’s environmental laws concerning the discharge of pollutants. According to findings from the investigation, Handy, an employee of Price & Son Septic Services, Inc., a business with its main office located on Stanford Road in Eden, Wicomico County, was implicated in the alleged illegal discharge. The Wicomico County Health Department initially responded to a neighboring property on October 23, 2025. During their response, health department officials observed piping that appeared to originate from the Price & Son sewage pump truck parking area and extend into the adjacent forested land, going beyond the company’s property boundary. The area reportedly had a strong sewage odor, and the ground was soft, indicating potential saturation.
Following these observations, ENRCU investigators visited the Stanford Road location on October 27, 2025. At the rear of the property, they reportedly discovered a substantial area of dark, sludge-like material and noted a potent odor consistent with raw sewage. During their site visit, investigators reportedly witnessed Handy disconnecting a hose from the back of a Price & Son septic truck. Immediately after this action, investigators observed a new, significant flow of brown liquid spreading over the previously noted sludge area, which had reportedly been dry moments before. Investigators concluded that Handy had discharged the contents of the septic truck onto the adjacent property at that time.
The alleged illegal dumping of sewage poses risks to public health and the environment. Proper disposal methods for sewage are available through designated facilities designed for treatment. Individuals who circumvent these regulations by choosing to illegally discharge sewage may face legal consequences, including criminal charges, for actions that endanger public well-being and contaminate natural resources.
