Preliminary findings indicate that Wolf was discovered unresponsive in his cell late Wednesday evening, May 20th. Emergency medical services pronounced him deceased at the scene. The body was subsequently transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, where an autopsy will be performed to ascertain the precise cause and manner of his death. Authorities have identified another inmate as a suspect in connection with the incident, though their identity is being withheld pending the formal placement of charges.
The Maryland State Police Homicide Unit took over the investigation after being notified by personnel from the Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services Internal Investigative Unit. Investigators believe the deceased inmate’s cellmate was present at the time of the incident. Crime scene technicians from the State Police, along with investigators from the DPSCS Internal Investigative Unit, are providing support to the Homicide Unit as the investigation progresses. Once concluded, all findings will be forwarded to the Washington County State’s Attorney’s Office for review to determine appropriate charges.
