A York County man has been sentenced to 12 months and one day of imprisonment for making threatening communications to a United States Congressman. The sentencing, announced by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania, follows an investigation into a series of voicemails left for the Congressman’s district office.
Troy Lamont Rishell, 48, a resident of York, Pennsylvania, was found to have left eight separate voicemails containing explicit threats of physical harm and murder. These messages were reportedly made with the intent to intimidate the Congressman while he was performing his official duties. The investigation into the threats was a joint effort by the United States Capitol Police and the United States Secret Service. Assistant United States Attorney K. Wesley Mishoe handled the prosecution of the case.
