The Maryland State Board of Elections has announced that replacement mail-in ballots will be sent to all voters who received their ballots before May 14, 2026. This measure is being taken due to an error by the state’s mail-in ballot vendor, which resulted in some voters receiving ballots for the incorrect political party for the upcoming Gubernatorial Primary Election.
While the number of voters affected by the error is not specified, the State Board of Elections is opting to resend all mail-in ballots issued prior to the specified date to ensure the integrity and accuracy of the voting process. Voters who requested and received their mail-in ballots via web delivery, often referred to as “Print at Home” ballots, will not be impacted by this issue. All voters who received a potentially incorrect ballot will be individually notified by election officials.
