The pursuit, which lasted approximately 20 minutes and primarily took place in the southern end of the city, involved multiple traffic violations committed by Taulton. The chase concluded when Taulton collided with an unmarked police vehicle. This was the sole vehicle accident that occurred during the pursuit. Taulton was subsequently transported to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office Central Booking facility for processing and is awaiting an appearance before a Washington County District Court Commissioner. The Hagerstown Police Department utilized its Real Time Information Center (RTIC) and small Unmanned Aircraft Systems (sUAS) during the operation.

Taulton faces a multitude of charges stemming from the pursuit, including multiple counts of attempting to elude uniformed police officers by various means. He is also charged with driving without a required license and authorization, reckless driving, and 31 payable traffic citations. In addition to the traffic offenses, Taulton has been charged with criminal offenses including false imprisonment and second-degree assault, as well as a charge related to malicious destruction of property exceeding $1,000.

The apprehension of Taulton resolved several outstanding arrest warrants. These include warrants from Fulton County, Pennsylvania, for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. Cumberland County, Pennsylvania, had issued warrants for charges including strangulation, terroristic threats, two counts of simple assault, harassment, and public drunkenness. Washington County, Maryland, held warrants for felony theft of $1,500 to $25,000, three counts of second-degree assault, and a bench warrant for violation of probation, alongside a bench warrant for theft of $100 to $1,500. Frederick City, Maryland, also had an active warrant for theft of $100 to $1,500.

This incident highlights the collaborative efforts across multiple jurisdictions to address individuals wanted for serious offenses. Residents can be reassured that law enforcement agencies are actively working to apprehend fugitives and enhance public safety.
