An accidental structure fire on Cearfoss Pike in Hagerstown, Maryland, has resulted in seven residents being displaced from their home. The blaze, which occurred on February 17, 2026, at approximately 5:00 AM, caused an estimated $50,000 in damages. According to the Office of the State Fire Marshal, the fire originated in the laundry room of the two-story residence located at 14104 Cearfoss Pike.

The Maugansville Volunteer Fire Department responded to the one-alarm incident with 34 firefighters. They were able to bring the fire under control within 30 minutes of arrival. The preliminary investigation indicates that an electrical malfunction was the cause of the fire. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries or fatalities as a result of the incident. The homeowner discovered the fire and reported it. The structure sustained an estimated $30,000 in damages, with an additional $20,000 in damages to contents. Information regarding smoke alarms or other fire suppression systems was not available. No arrests were made in connection with the fire.
