The Hagerstown Police Department has announced the arrest of two individuals in connection with a shooting incident that occurred on the afternoon of December 17, 2025. Officers responded to the 800 block of West Washington Street around 3:54 p.m. after receiving reports of a shooting.

Upon arriving at the scene, law enforcement discovered two adult males who had sustained gunshot wounds. Both victims were promptly transported to Meritus Medical Center for immediate medical attention. One of the individuals suffered injuries that were not considered life-threatening, while the other sustained more severe injuries and was subsequently transferred to a different medical facility for continued care. Both victims remain under medical supervision.
Following an investigation into the shooting, police identified and apprehended two suspects allegedly involved in the incident. The first individual apprehended has been identified as 17-year-old Alex Sutton of Hagerstown. Sutton is being charged as an adult with multiple offenses, including two counts of attempted first-degree murder and two counts of attempted second-degree murder. Additional charges against him encompass assault, reckless endangerment, and various handgun-related offenses. The second suspect arrested is Kahlil Thomas, a 19-year-old also from Hagerstown. Thomas is facing numerous handgun-related charges in connection with the event.
Authorities have stated that this particular incident is believed to be isolated and that there is no indication of an ongoing threat to the general public. The Hagerstown Police Department indicated that further details will be released as they become available.
