Washington County Public Schools (WCPS) has announced an early dismissal for all students on Monday, March 16, 2026, with classes concluding two hours earlier than usual. This decision comes in response to a forecast predicting severe weather conditions throughout the afternoon and into the evening. In conjunction with the early dismissal, all after-school and evening activities organized by WCPS have been canceled for the day.
Furthermore, the press release from Washington County Public Schools indicates that the YMCA will not be operating its after-school daycare programs at WCPS school locations on this date. The school district is providing this advance notice in an effort to assist families and school staff in preparing for the adjusted schedule. Residents of Washington County should plan for their children to arrive home from school two hours earlier than their typical dismissal time. Parents and guardians will need to make alternative arrangements for childcare if they rely on after-school programs that are now canceled. The cancellation of all after-school and evening activities means that no school-sponsored events or functions will take place after the adjusted dismissal time.
