Approximately 941,400 bottles of Kirkland Signature Valdobbiadene Prosecco DOCG are being recalled due to a laceration hazard, according to a notice from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). The imported Italian Prosecco bottles, sold by Costco, have been reported to break or shatter, posing a risk of injury.

The recall specifically affects bottles with a UPC of 196633883742 and a Costco Item Number of 1879870. These bottles are described as green with purple foil on the top and a purple label bearing the words “Kirkland Signature Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG.” The affected product was distributed nationwide, sold at Costco stores in Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, North Dakota, Nebraska, Ohio, South Dakota, and Wisconsin. Consumers purchased these bottles between April 2025 and August 2025 for approximately $8 each.
F&F Fine Wines International, Inc., doing business as Ethica Wines, which imported the product from Italy, has received ten reports of the bottles shattering or breaking. These incidents have resulted in one reported laceration injury. Consumers who have purchased the recalled Prosecco are strongly advised to immediately stop using the bottles and refrain from attempting to open them. The recalled bottles should be safely discarded in household trash.
To obtain a full refund from Costco, consumers must contact Ethica Wines. They can be reached by phone at 786-810-7132, Monday through Friday, between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. Eastern Standard Time, or by email at customercare@ethicawines.com. This recall is being conducted voluntarily in cooperation with the CPSC.
