Igloo Products Corp. has issued a recall for approximately 1.06 million of its 90-quart Flip & Tow rolling coolers due to a serious safety risk. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced that the tow handle on these coolers can pinch users’ fingertips, potentially leading to amputations or crushing injuries. The recall affects coolers sold in various colors at major retailers such as Costco, Target, and Amazon from January 2019 through January 2025.

According to the recall notice, the affected coolers were manufactured before January 2024. The manufacturing date is imprinted on the bottom of the cooler, and model numbers can be found on labels affixed underneath. Igloo has received at least 12 reports of injuries, including fingertip amputations, bone fractures, and lacerations. Consumers are advised to stop using the recalled coolers immediately and contact Igloo for a free replacement handle.

The coolers were sold nationwide for prices ranging from $80 to $140. About 47,000 units were also distributed in Canada, along with 23,000 in Mexico. Igloo, based in Katy, Texas, is offering remedies to affected customers through its toll-free hotline, email, or dedicated recall website.
