The charges originated after Reigh allegedly disrupted the public comment portion of a county commissioner meeting. During his address to the commissioners, Reigh reportedly attempted to introduce materials from a past civil case and called for the resignation of Commissioner President John Barr. County officials stated that the accusations Reigh sought to present had already been adjudicated and were deemed irrelevant to county business, with Reigh being directed to conclude his remarks. According to available records, Reigh persisted in his statements, leading to a recess and a request for the meeting room to be cleared. Following the recess, Reigh is alleged to have refused to leave the premises when instructed by officials, resulting in his arrest by a deputy from the Washington County Sheriff’s Department.

Reigh was booked on June 3, 2025, under case number D-112-CR-25-001165. He was released on his own recognizance the same day. He had previously entered a plea of not guilty, with an agreed statement of facts, on October 30, 2025. Court records indicate that Reigh was represented by attorney Joseph Murtha, who previously represented well known figures such as Linda Tripp. The State of Maryland was represented by the State’s Attorney’s Office for Washington County.

The case concluded on October 30, 2025, with the disposition of probation before judgment. This outcome means that if Reigh successfully completes his probationary period without further legal issues, the charges may be dismissed, preventing a conviction from appearing on his record. No probation period was listed for Reigh.

Reigh publicly announced his candidacy for the 2026 County Commissioner election in Washington County. His campaign, “Curtis Reigh for County Commissioner,” was registered with the local election board in March 2025. He was unable to comment at this time.

Washington County Government had no comment regarding the outcome of the case.
