The bicentennial commemoration features a mix of community events aimed at engaging all age groups. Highlights include a historical discussion night on August 8 at Dynasty Brewing, open to those 21 and over, followed by a family day on August 9 with live reenactments and hands-on activities across the Loudoun Museum, Donaldson Log Cabin, and Mervin Jackson Park. That evening, the town’s main bicentennial celebration will take place during TASTE Leesburg, featuring a reenactment of Lafayette’s visit with portrayals of notable 19th-century figures and patriotic music.
To deepen public understanding of Lafayette’s impact, free exhibits will run throughout August at the Thomas Balch Library and the Loudoun Museum. These displays are designed to immerse residents in the historical context and significance of Lafayette’s relationship with the United States.

Businesses across downtown Leesburg will also participate in the town-wide tribute. On August 6, the Department of Economic Development will distribute 40 decorative wreaths—adorned with French and American flags—to local establishments. These wreaths are intended to enhance the historic ambiance and visually unify the community in celebration.
