We know you value local news and entertainment that is free, open, and independent. Producing high-quality, paywall-free content isn't free. It takes time, effort, and resources to keep you informed and entertained. Unlike corporate media, we don’t have deep-pocketed investors or big advertisers funding our work—we rely on you, our readers and listeners, to keep Radio Free Hub City running. We're literally running on a shoe-string budget, but keep working hard to provide as much news and entertainment as we can.
If just 5% of local area residents became paid supporters at only $5 per month, we could meet our fundraising goals and continue expanding our news coverage depth while continuing to provide free access for everyone. So, if you'd like to help us in our continuing quest to improve our coverage, please consider becoming a paying supporter.

The “MDWK Music & Market” series continues on Wednesday evenings at University Plaza, showcasing live bands like Hustle Souls, The Heavy Hitters, and Vinyl Fever. Food trucks and local drink vendors such as Hub City Brewery and Church Street Distillery will be on hand, with residents encouraged to bring chairs or blankets and enjoy a midweek break with family and friends. These events not only offer free entertainment, but also promote economic activity for downtown businesses and vendors.
On Sundays, the City Farmers Market at Hub City Brewery provides a chance for residents to shop for fresh produce, baked goods, and handmade items from regional artisans. These events help sustain local agriculture and give small businesses a platform to reach new customers. Meanwhile, the Hagerstown Municipal Band will continue its free Sunday evening concert series at the City Park Bandshell, offering performances that range from big band to island steel drum music.

While other outlets focus on getting quotes from politicians who don't even live in our congressional district, we're focused on providing the hard-hitting truths and facts without political spin. We don't lock our news behind a paywall, will you help us keep it that way? If you're tired of news sweetened with confirmation bias, consider becoming a monthly supporter. But if you're not, that's fine too—we're confident in our mission and will be here if you decide you're ready for the truth. Families can also look forward to the outdoor movie nights at City Park, featuring popular films such as Inside Out 2 and WICKED, with pre-show entertainment beginning at 7 PM and the movie starting at dusk. For those looking to get active or give back, the Krumpe’s Donut Alley Rally on August 8 includes a 5K run with proceeds supporting veterans through the Wounded Warrior Project and the Mason-Dixon Warrior Adventures.
Additional events like the annual City Golf Championship, the Encounter City Park music series, and August’s Latin Fest round out a calendar designed to foster community spirit and make Hagerstown a summer destination for locals and visitors alike. Many of these programs are hosted or supported by the Hagerstown Parks & Recreation Department, AE District, and local businesses, reflecting a collaborative effort to enrich community life.
