Riders using Total Saddle Fit’s Shoulder Relief Cinches are being urged to stop using the product immediately following a recall of approximately 10,000 units due to safety concerns. The cinches, used to secure saddles to horses, have been found to come apart during use, potentially leading to falls and serious injuries.

The recall, announced on June 26, 2025, affects only those cinches sold before August 2021. These versions are identifiable by their round buckle design and lack of a center elastic. Affected models were available in black or brown leather, ranging from 24 to 36 inches in length, and sold online and at retail locations across the country for about $140. At least 19 incidents have been reported where the cinch detached, causing saddles to fall off—one incident resulted in a rider suffering fractured ribs.

Consumers who purchased the affected cinches should immediately discontinue use and contact Total Saddle Fit for a free replacement. The company is offering prepaid shipping labels for the return of the faulty products and is actively reaching out to known buyers. Recalled products were manufactured in India and distributed by Total Saddle Fit, LLC, based in Jamul, California.
