Canyon Bicycles USA has issued a recall for approximately 1,400 Speedmax CF triathlon bicycles in the United States, citing a potential fall and injury hazard due to a defect in the aerostem fork steerer tube. An additional 380 units were sold in Canada. The affected bicycles, identified as models R073 and R41 with V21 aerostems, were available for purchase online between May 2017 and July 2024.

The issue stems from the possibility of the aerostem fork steerer tube cracking or breaking, which could cause riders to lose control and fall. While no injuries or incidents have been reported so far, Canyon Bicycles urges owners to immediately stop using the recalled bikes. The company is offering a free repair, which includes an inspection, potential fork replacement, and reinforcement of the affected component.

Affected bicycles come in multiple color combinations, including black/red, black/blue, gray/orange, and red/black. The brand name “Canyon” is printed on the downtube, while “Speedmax” appears on the top tube. The “V21” marking is located on the left side of the stem. Consumers can find the model number on a sticker placed at the top of the seat tube, just below the saddle.
