The graduation ceremony, held June 26 at Frederick Community College’s JBK Theater, marked the culmination of months of rigorous instruction. The academy curriculum emphasized scenario-based learning and included training in de-escalation, law, defensive tactics, emergency vehicle operations, and firearms use. Recruits now transition into a ten-week Field Training and Evaluation Program, where they will be partnered with experienced officers to further develop their practical policing skills.
Graduates include four officers joining the Frederick Police Department, two from the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office, and one each from the police departments of Laurel, Rockville, Gaithersburg, and Brunswick. These new officers will be on local streets soon, contributing to law enforcement efforts in both urban and suburban areas throughout the region.
