The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has issued an urgent warning advising consumers to immediately stop using Popsunny Princess Dress Up Costume Sets due to a serious ingestion hazard posed by the product’s battery compartment. According to the CPSC, the costume sets include lithium coin batteries housed in compartments that children can easily access without the use of tools. If swallowed, these batteries can cause internal chemical burns, injuries, or be fatal. Although a Notice of Violation has been sent to Gizmo Box, the company has not initiated a recall or offered a remedy for consumers.
The costume sets, which were available for purchase from November 2024 through January 2025 for approximately $22, come in pink, rainbow, or pink-and-white lace designs. Each set features princess-themed accessories such as capes, tiaras, gloves, and jewelry, along with LED string lights containing preinstalled lithium coin batteries. The products were manufactured in China and sold exclusively through Amazon.com.

In response to the hazard, the CPSC is urging consumers to discontinue use of the costume sets immediately and to dispose of the LED string lights properly. Lithium coin batteries should be handled according to local hazardous waste disposal guidelines. Consumers are also advised not to resell or donate the affected products. Any injuries or defects related to the Popsunny dress-up sets should be reported to the CPSC through their website, www.SaferProducts.gov.
