Washington County has officially approved a transition agreement that will move the emergency medical services (EMS) personnel of the Volunteer Fire Company of Halfway into County employment. The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), endorsed by the Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) on June 3, 2025, marks the fourth staffing transition of this kind since March 2024. County officials view the move as a step toward improving EMS service delivery and maintaining a stable, highly qualified workforce.
