Congresswoman April McClain Delaney (D-MD) has submitted requests totaling $41,657,996 for federal Community Project Funding aimed at revitalizing Maryland’s 6th Congressional District. The funding requests span a wide range of initiatives intended to boost job creation, enhance public safety, upgrade infrastructure, and provide essential services across the region. If approved, these investments will be included in the upcoming fiscal year 2026 government funding package.

In Allegany County, McClain Delaney’s requests include $2.8 million for the Frostburg State University Planetarium, $1.3 million for a new waterline in the Town of Lonaconing, $900,000 to replace an aging fire engine for Potomac Fire Company No. 2, and $2 million for a new membrane filtration building in Cumberland. These projects aim to enhance educational facilities, ensure safe drinking water, improve emergency response capabilities, and modernize water infrastructure.
Frederick County projects include $3 million for a new building for the Brunswick Volunteer Ambulance and Rescue, $3 million for the Frederick Youth Center, $3.6 million for the Mount Saint Mary’s Quality Drinking Water Project, $7 million for the Taney Avenue Senior Center and Senior Affordable Housing, and $2.5 million for flood mitigation efforts along West Patrick Street. These initiatives focus on strengthening public services, improving youth and senior facilities, and addressing environmental resilience.

In Garrett County, $2.7 million has been requested for the Grantsville Sidewalk and Crosswalk Safety Project, $2.6 million for Oakland’s Water System Improvements Project, and $3 million for the expansion of the Radiology/Oncology Department at the local cancer center. Additionally, Montgomery County stands to receive $1 million for pedestrian safety improvements in Gaithersburg’s Olde Towne community. Washington County funding requests include $3.7 million for San Mar’s Full Service Housing for Transition-Age Youth and $2 million for the City of Hagerstown’s Bridge Repair Program.
Congresswoman McClain Delaney, elected in 2024, represents a district that includes Montgomery, Frederick, Washington, Allegany, and Garrett counties. Since taking office, she has prioritized working with local officials to identify projects that will benefit residents by enhancing infrastructure and expanding access to critical services.
