The Washington County Sheriff’s Office in Maryland will conduct its next round of testing for entry-level patrol deputy sheriff applicants on June 26, 2025. The process, designed to evaluate physical and written capabilities, begins at 5:00 p.m. at the Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division facility in Hagerstown. All candidates must arrive by 4:30 p.m. for pre-registration; late entries will not be permitted.

The evaluation will commence with the Physical Fitness and Handgun Familiarization Testing, followed by a written examination for those who successfully complete the initial phase. Candidates who pass both the physical and written assessments will be invited to participate in a subsequent oral board interview, scheduled at a later time. Testing will take place at 500 Western Maryland Parkway.

All participants must bring a completed Release of Liability and a Physician’s Certification form on the day of testing. The Physician’s Certification must be dated no earlier than May 27, 2025, to ensure validity. A government-issued photo ID is also mandatory for entry.

Applicants are instructed to wear athletic attire for both the physical and written portions of the evaluation. The required paperwork, including the Physical Fitness Test forms, is available for download on the Sheriff’s Office website at www.washcosheriff.com. Only those who have submitted the online employment application and required forms will be eligible to participate in the assessment process.
