At approximately 6:40 p.m. on April 28, Frederick Police Department officers responded to reports of gunfire in the 1100 block of Key Parkway. When they arrived, they found two adult males suffering from gunshot wounds. Officers provided immediate aid until emergency medical crews arrived. The victims were flown to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore and were released the following day. At the scene, officers recovered multiple shell casings and noted that several vehicles and nearby properties had been struck by bullets.

Following an investigation, police identified Nyzeir Sampson, born November 2, 1996, as the suspect in the case. Sampson was arrested on May 5 in Hagerstown through a joint operation involving Frederick Police detectives and the U.S. Marshals Task Force. His charges include attempted first-degree murder, multiple counts of assault, reckless endangerment, and numerous handgun violations, including possession of a loaded firearm during a violent crime.
