We know you value local news and entertainment that is free, open, and independent. Producing high-quality, paywall-free content isn't free. It takes time, effort, and resources to keep you informed and entertained. Unlike corporate media, we don’t have deep-pocketed investors or big advertisers funding our work—we rely on you, our readers and listeners, to keep Radio Free Hub City running. We're literally running on a shoe-string budget, but keep working hard to provide as much news and entertainment as we can.
If just 5% of local area residents became paid supporters at only $5 per month, we could meet our fundraising goals and continue expanding our news coverage depth while continuing to provide free access for everyone. So, if you'd like to help us in our continuing quest to improve our coverage, please consider becoming a paying supporter.
Will you be one of the 5%?

The store sits prominently near existing businesses including a Burger King and the Microtel Hotel, making it easily accessible to passersby and tourists entering the state. Approved for a Class A liquor license in October 2023 by Washington County, the facility broke ground in the fall of 2024. Its red, white, black, and yellow roof—featuring the recognizable Maryland state colors—makes it a visible addition to the commercial corridor just off Exit 9.
Construction of the retail building, which measures under 10,000 square feet, was led by Merit Builders. Work began in earnest following a public announcement in September 2024, with crews pushing forward through winter to meet the store’s spring 2025 launch. The site includes ample parking and is expected to be a convenient stop for both local and interstate traffic.

The Maryland Wine House is already providing numerous new employment opportunities in the region, with more than 40 full-time positions anticipated once operations scale up. The business is positioning itself competitively in the market with a broad selection of alcoholic beverages and an emphasis on supporting Maryland-based products. An official ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled to take place later this year to mark the store’s full opening.
