The award-winning event took place on August 1, 2024, aligning with National Pollworker Recruitment Day. During the open house, veteran poll workers guided new recruits through the tools and procedures used on election day, giving them a realistic understanding of the responsibilities involved. The initiative not only educated attendees but also led to a significant increase in the number of poll workers available for the 2024 Presidential General Election.

Administered under the Help America Vote Act, the EAC serves as a federal clearinghouse for election administration. The agency’s commissioners highlighted the award recipients as examples of how local election offices have adapted and excelled, especially during a high-turnout presidential election year.
