The narcotics were discovered after a 65-year-old Mexican national arrived at the port of entry in a 2005 Chrysler Town and Country van. Officers directed the driver to a secondary inspection, where a combination of canine units and non-intrusive inspection systems led to the discovery of 28 packages of suspected methamphetamine hidden among the individual’s personal belongings.

The seized drugs weighed 115.52 pounds and carried an estimated street value of $1,062,252. The methamphetamine, along with the vehicle, was confiscated by CBP officials. Homeland Security Investigations agents arrested the driver and have launched a criminal investigation into the smuggling attempt.
